The Groom Wearing a Boutonniere
The wedding tradition of the groom wearing a boutonniere originates in medieval times when a knight wore his lady's colors (through flowers) as a statement of his love. This good looking boutonniere is obviously a contemporary one, but an example of one created in ’Äúyester-year’Äù would include lavender, lamb’Äôs ear, rose hips, or flowering herbs. Because bathing was an issue back then, a scented boutonniere helped with the ’Äúaroma’Äù of the groom!¬Ý How special!

Keep an eye out for our new name transformation happening soon! We are very excited to launch our new name, web site and our very ’ÄúChic’Äù new look!
Why the change? ’ÄúPlan A’Äù Events initially started out with the idea that we would have a pretty large focus on corporate events, due to our vast background and experience in that area. However, we have happily found that not only has our wedding business taken off so successfully, but our true passion is in Wedding Planning. Weddings are what we have been primarily working on for the past few years and what we hope to do a lot more of in the future!
So, to us it made sense to split off ’ÄúPlan A’Äù to continue to cater to the corporate client and unveil our new name for our Wedding Services. Our new name, ’Äú2Chic Events and Design’Äù fits what we do to a T ’Äì Weddings that are Simply Chic and Fabulously Unique! 2Chic will focus solely on Wedding Planning and Design and will be taking on a more feminine, ’ÄúChic’Äù look that reflects our style and what we do just perfectly! Party "DJ" Party was the DJ of choice for a wedding which was featured on the Wedding Show "Platinum Weddings" which airs on the WE Channel. The wedding was held September 26, 2009 in Fresno, CA and had a budget which exceeded $250,000. The Bride & Groom were Joseph Mah and Jerrica McDowell.
They had their reception at Grand Occasions in Fresno. Party "DJ" Party provided all sound, microphones & music in 2 separate buildings.
Theme was cabaret (Moulin Rouge) and there were comedians, dancers, Japanese drummers and us. IT WAS A GREAT SHOW!

A Toast to the Bride and Groom For this month I wanted to share something in the spirit of Thanksgiving. For that reason, I think that some advice on giving a toast is appropriate.¬Ý Although toasting often offers some words of advice as well as well wishes for the couple, what I have found is most important is a message of love and
thankfulness-thankfulness for the couple, for the family and friends in attendance, love and appreciation for the relationship being celebrated and all the relationships among the people there to celebrate. There are no secrets revealed about how to have a successful marriage. There is good advice, but no one has all the answers. I have found that the best thing that someone can share in a toast is simply a message from the heart. It is a rare and very special moment for someone to get up and speak about loving someone, appreciating them and sharing those thoughts with the people most important in their lives.¬Ý My most favorite toast is when a groom takes the opportunity to thank his new wife, tell her |
how beautiful she is and how much he loves her. Awww, it must be the Prince Charming dreamer in me (but I know it's not just me, we all love to hear it!) I recently heard a toast that was a unique version of this. It was funny and romantic and I just wanted to share.¬Ý A sister of the bride got up to give her toast and began to tell a story of how the groom arrived from out of town for the wedding. The responsibility of picking him up at the airport was given to the father of the bride and her. She spoke with the groom as he landed and made arrangements about where to meet. What should have been a quick exchange of instructions became confusing and difficult. She quickly realized that the groom had been
drinking on the plane. She continued her story reenacting the scene as she and her father drove the groom home. "Mister Dave, Mister Dave," she said with slurred words and enthusiasm. "You made a beautiful daughter," she repeated. "I love your daughter. Your daughter is wonderful." The groom continued to profess his love for his wife to be to his soon to be father in law. The sister continued mimicking the groom as the crowd laughed at the thought of this scene. The sister teased him and shared her concerns about returning home with a drunk groom. But as the sister finished her toast and the crowd applauded, you could see that this man really loved this woman and her family was so happy for her.¬Ý It was definitely not the traditional words or execution that I have heard before but the message was the same. And though it may have been prompted by a few cocktails, it was still from the heart.
